Margaret Stone
Margaret Stone is chairman, president and founder of Veterans Healing Initiative. Founded in 2009, VHI is the nation’s only non_profit organization focused exclusively on providing veterans access to treatment for substance abuse and trauma and providing funds for those veterans who are not able to pay for treatment. Ms. Stone has appeared on NBC New York Nightly News and Fox 5 TV and writes a blog for the Huffington Post.
Prior to founding VHI, Ms. Stone was founder and president of Chiron Advisors, Inc., an executive-search firm focused exclusively on the financial services industry. Prior to establishing Chiron in 1999, Ms. Stone spent nearly 10 years in the financial services executive-search industry. She began her career at McFarland Dewey & Co., a mergers-and-acquisition advisory firm based in New York.
Ms. Stone earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University. She is the former chairman of the Blessed Sacrament Church Parish Council in New York and is a former board member of Caron New York, a leading nonprofit provider of alcohol and substance-abuse treatment. In 2007, she created Susannah’s Fund to provide sponsorship funding for teens and young adults in need of addiction treatment. Ms. Stone has participated five times in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, a two-day, 200-mile cycling fundraiser that supports the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund.
